SHM Vegetable Smoothie

Vegetable smoothies are one of my favorite and most convenient ways to deposit nutrients into my body. I consume them every single day.
I use the following vegetables as a base for all my vegetable smoothies:
- 5 carrots
- 1 stem of broccoli
- 1 orange
- 1 apple
- Any two or three green leafy vegetables
Here is one of my usual vegetable smoothies:
- 5 carrots
- 1 stem of broccoli
- 1 orange
- 1 apple
- 3 kale leaves and their stems
- 2 large stalk of red chard
- Handful of parsley
- Water
Place vegetables into your Vita Mix or blender and add water to half way mark. Blend vegetables long enough to puree ingredients into a smoothie.
Store in a glass mason jar with tight seal in your refrigerator up to three days. (It is best to consume immediately or with in the first 24 hours). Discard past three days.
Vegetable smoothie are a perfect way to get vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, fiber and cleansing water from your fruits and vegetables in a hurry.
Simple Health Tip: Pour four ounces of vegetable smoothie into an eight ounce glass. Add four ounces of water. Stir, drink with a straw.
Fruit smoothies are delicious but vegetable smoothies you have to acquire the taste for. I do not drink my vegetable smoothies for taste; I drink them for the nutritional contribution they make to my health and wellness. Add a squeeze of lemon or lime to reduce some of the bitter taste to your ingredients.
Vegetable smoothies are not a meal replacement. They are considered a supplement to a balance nutritional diet.
Important Disclosure: If you are going to incorporate juicing or veggie smoothies into your daily menus you must make sure you are consuming plenty of nutritious cooked grains, beans, pastas and healthy plant based recipes that are cooked. Although I consume a large quantity of raw foods which I consider to be the foods that contribute the most nutrients, it is still important to consume enough cooked foods of nutritional quality to maintain a good, healthy balance. You slow down the natural sugars from your juices and veggie smoothies by consuming cooked oatmeal, oat bran, brown rice, beans and plant based recipes. Also your stomach needs rest from the consumption of raw foods. Although I consume vegetable smoothies twice a day you may consider consuming them weekly to get you started.
